You can bind to '0.0.0.0' if you want to view the UI without tunneling.

If you add the following to your opscenterd.conf file it should use cassandra authentication.

username = $USER
password = $PASS

EDIT: You need to add the above conf under the '[cassandra]' section.

Thanks, that did help... with the new install I do have those extra files.

I was still having this undefined error in the log

Not too big a deal, I can tunnel in just fine, but it would be nice if it would attach to the external interface.

On to the next issue... I'm not seeing any way to configure opscenter with the cassandra cluster user name/pwd. Is this supported? I'm assuming this is what is causing the

No candidate nodes to expand pool
... errors in the opscenter log. I went ahead and manually installed the opscenter agent on one of the nodes, which was able to connect... but that doesn't seem to be sufficient.

Thanks again-

You actually found a bug with the free package. The ssl files were prevented from ever being created. The bug has been fixed and a new package uploaded. You will want to make sure you delete any files you manually created.

If you are still having problems removing the package you can do 'rpm -e opscenter-free --nopreun' to skip the pre-uninstall step.

Thanks for reporting the problem!

There is likely more error output earlier in the install process. Both cp and the log are complaining the ssl files used for agent communication do not exist. These are created on install and should produce error output if that creation fails.

I'm having some issues getting opscenter (free) to start; this is a new install.

My cluster in on EC2; the first monitoring box I tried the install on was an Amazon-built AMI (ami-8c1fece5, 2.6.35.11-83.9.amzn1.i686).
I noticed on the rpm install that I get the error

cp: cannot stat
/var/lib/opscenter/ssl/agentKeyStore': No such file or directory`
and if I create it, that becomes

cp: omitting directory
/var/lib/opscenter/ssl/agentKeyStore'`
That box looks like this:

$ cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 5.6 (Final)
$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_24"

$ nodetool -h localhost version
ReleaseVersion: 0.8.3

Any recommendations? I'm assuming since it happens on two very different boxes it's something I'm doing, but I don't see any pointers in the docs.
