If you're trying to avoid upgrading to 5.6, it sounds like you want to avoid
yum update
. Is that feasible for you?

So would the supported thing to do be,

install centos 5.5 and don't run 'yum update'?

While it is not fully supported just yet, we do have customers that are running OpsCenter on Centos 5.6, so it should work for you.

The opscenter documentation says that Centos 5.4 and 5.5 are supported. http://www.datastax.com/docs/opscenter/install_opscenter#installing-opscenter-on-rhel-and-centos

Is 5.6 not supported?

When I take a fresh 5.5 install and do a 'yum update', it updates the kernel and the centos-release package among other things. Assuming that I want to a be stickler for versions, is there something I should do to prevent 5.5 from going to 5.6?
