Sorry for the delay... I did a fresh install of dse-2.2 with opscenter 2.1.2 on my mac, and everything seems to work fine.

1) Did you make any changes to your dse/cassandra installation?
2) Is there any preexisting data in on your system (/var/lib/cassandra, /var/log/cassandra)?
3) What version of Mac OS is this?
4) What do you get for these:

java -version
$ python -V
$ openssl version
$ iostat -V

5) Anything special in your env (what's your CLASSPATH and JAVA_HOME)?

Can you post what is in system.log when this error in opscenterd log is happening? Are there any errors or warnings there?

I tried providing the override for a temp directory when I started dse, I used a folder in my home directory, but I get the same error. I do see the jnilib (osx native library) for Snappy has been extracted into that folder. I also tried pulling that native library out of the jar and adding it to /Library/Java/Extensions the usual place under OSX to put stuff like that. No luck with that either.

I have also tried reverting to opscenter-2.1.1, which had worked, but that now fails in the same way. I suppose that suggests the issue is with dse rather than opscenter, but it is frustrating not to be able to get this going again.

Thanks in advance for any other help or advice you might offer.

I believe this is the cause: http://www.datastax.com/docs/1.0/troubleshooting/index#cannot-initialize-class-org-xerial-snappy-snappy

Let me know if following those instructions doesn't resolve the issue.

On a new dse 2.2 installation with a new install of opscenter-2.1.2 I cannot register the local cluster with opscenter. After entering localhost, which responds correctly to nodetool and cli-cassandra opscenter reports a timeout of cluster-configs and the opscenterd log ends with the following:

Please let me know what I might try to get this working.
