Have you considered using an embedded Cassandra instance for your functional tests? Have a look at http://prettyprint.me/2010/02/14/running-cassandra-as-an-embedded-service/

It might be that your problem is related to data distribution across your nodes. I am not sure. But including an embedded cassandra in your tests will also ensure you're not littering your main cassandra instance with test data.

We're using Cassandra 0.7.3 and Hector 0.7.0-30, three nodes, default consistency level of QUORUM.

Our functional tests are failing on a regular basis when we insert into and then perform a read to verify those inserts. The inserts are definitely in Cassandra as we can see them from the GUI.

So we're trying to establish if this is a timing issue or is our expectation of Cassandra that it returns the data just inserted incorrect?

We have also had unit tests fail that use an in memory Cassandra.

We are going to be upgrading to Cassandra 1.0 very soon and realise that this issue may then be resolved. We would like to get to the bottom of this problem though.

Thanks
