Error installing OpsCenter agent

I am trying to test out OpsCenter Community edition. I have cassandra setup on the same host as opscenterd. After logging into OpsCenter web, I get a popup asking me to install a Node Agent on 127.0.0.1. I have entered the credentials for my user account (which has sudo access).

The problem: the agent isn't installed and there is no status to indicate there is a problem (the popup remains with the install message).

The opscenterd.log only shows the following with no error indications.
"2011-10-27 09:18:26+1300 [] INFO: Beginning install of OpsCenter agent to 127.0.0.1"

Any ideas of what might be wrong?

Did you install the debian package, the RPM package, or are you using the tarball?

Nevermind, it seems that you've installed either the debian or rpm package.

In that case, can you check the contents of /var/log/opscenter-agent/installer.log? That should provide some details on the failure.

Yep, I am using a debian package for opscenter (not for cassandra though). The directory /var/log/opscenter-agent doesn't exists. Does the installer create that directory before anything else?

I can ssh to localhost with the credentials I provide opscenter. Is there any way of determining if opscenter can login?

A few things have to succeed before that directory is created, like scp'ing the necessary files and checking to see that we have sudo privileges.

Could I get you to change the logging level to DEBUG in opscenterd, restart opscenterd, try to install the agent again and report whatever else it logs?

Thank you for your help thobbs. I restarted both Cassandra and opscenterd (with DEBUG enabled). After that, the installer worked! Maybe there was a problem with how I initially installed opscenter?

Order of events
* started Cassandra (from tarball)
* intalled opscenter (through apt-get on Ubuntu)
* configured and launched opscenter

Well, I'm glad the problem resolved itself. That's pretty interesting.

Perhaps you later changed something in the config and forgot to restart opscenter after that?
