Hi,

I have created few schema's and uploaded into DSE-Solr. In one of the schema I have used TrieIntField for integer field and it seems at present its not supported.

Now the system got shutdown for some reason and I tried to restart DSE using the command
./dse cassandra -s

But the DSE is not starting due to an exception in one of the schema (contains a field of type TrieIntField). If one of the schema's is not proper it has to continue with other schema's and the DSE server should be started. But at present the server itself is not starting due to this error.
Is this expected?
Then how to delete that particular schema which is causing issue.

From a node which is running, you can delete the indexes using cql, then recreate them by posting new solrconfig.xml & schema.xml

If you open up cqlsh and switch to the relevant keyspace, you can remove the solr config by running:
```
ALTER COLUMNFAMILY <columnfamily> DROP '_solr_solrconfig.xml';
ALTER COLUMNFAMILY <columnfamily> DROP '_solr_schema.xml';"
```

Thanks for the response SAM.
Actually I have dropped the column family itself but still I am getting the same issue.
It looks like when I dropped the column family, only the column family is dropped from cassandra and the configuration related to solr is still existing.

The solr configuration is actually stored as column family metadata, so I don't know where else it would be coming from. What do you see if you run DESCRIBE KEYSPACE from cqlsh?

Hi Sam,

The keyspace has 2 column families and I have dropped the column-family that is giving issues.
When I check for the description of the keyspace, I am seeing only the solr configurations of existing column family and not showing any configurations of the dropped column-family.

On the otherside I noticed one more point:

I am seeing the schema configurations in the files located at:
.../datastax/dse-2.1.1/dse-data/data/system

It seems all the schema we have uploaded are updated in these files. I think if we remove the schemas from this file it works. But they are in some encoded format. Any idea about these files?

If you dropped the column family containing the problematic solr index and you don't see it in the output of describe schema, then its configuration should have been completely removed. Are you still seeing exactly the same error at startup?

The directory you're referring to is where Cassandra stores schema information (among other things) so changes to keyspace & columnfamily definitions will result in those files being updated. These are for the most part Cassandra data files, just the same as those holding data in your other keyspaces.

Yes. I have dropped the column family and I am not seeing any details in the output of describe-schema of that column family.

But when I tried to start the DSE (./dse cassandra -s) I am still getting the same error and the server is not starting.

Can you try starting DSE without the -s switch, so that it doesn't try to initialise any solr indexes. The schema change perhaps hasn't propagated to that node, and so starting up with search disabled should allow it to do so. Once its come up, shut it down again then restart with the -s switch again.

Thanks for the additional info.

In order to make your Date_Time field working with the CQL schema above, you have to use DSE 3.0.1 and create a new Solr core from scratch with the new type mappings enabled, as described in the "Configuring Solr type mapping" section here: http://www.datastax.com/docs/datastax_enterprise3.0/solutions/dse_search_schema

Basically you have to add the following to your Solr conifg:

<dseTypeMappingVersion>1</dseTypeMappingVersion>

Here i follow your guided step.I installed DSE 3.0.1.I also add the line <dseTypeMappingVersion>1</dseTypeMappingVersion> in solrconfig.xml. Here i have successfully indexed column name="Date_Time " type="timestamp" at class="solr.DateField".But,at query time solr not gives the value of Date_Time and column name Date_Time.Please help me.
