unable to truncate CF - error "one or more nodes were unavailable"

Hi,

We are using Apache Cassandra 1.0.5. Our cluster has 4 nodes. When i truncate a column family, we are getting "Unable to complete request: one or more nodes were unavailable." error. Using nodetool ring command, i made sure all nodes are UP. We are not sure what's wrong. Appreciate your help.

Are you seeing this error only when you do truncate ?

other queries like select, insert works fine ?

Yes. we are seeing only for truncate. other operations are working fine.

Can you check if truncate has actually happened ?

This error may be due to time out in any of the node for truncate operation.

If there is no firewall, this is related to a known bug.. not able to find in bug list either. might be already fixed in newer version.

I had the same error. And it was for a single node deployment.
I noticed that i happens mostly when the table (CF) has lots of records.
And yes the table was truncated.
