Data Modeling Workshop at Cassandra SF 2011

By Lynn BenderJune 16, 2011

Matt DennisOne of the most common support topics for Cassandra is data modeling. There are plenty of introductory tutorials and videos covering the subject, but there is still a lack of published case studies.

At this year’s Cassandra SF, Matt Dennis will lead a data modeling workshop. Conference attendees are encouraged to submit their difficult data modeling problems in advance. Matt will pick the selection of the most interesting, with focus on the models demonstrating common pitfalls, and work through them with the audience. The data modeling workshop is free to all attendees of Cassandra SF. To submit your data modeling problem for consideration, submit your idea or send a brief description to

Matt Dennis currently works on Cassandra full time at DataStax, where he was the first employee. Prior to DataStax, Matt held various technical leadership and senior development roles at Crossroads Systems and Troux Technologies. In a former life he spent time as a sys admin. Matt studied Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Engineering respectively. He is currently on hiatus from pursuing a doctorate to help further Cassandra and the community.
