Announcing DataStax Enterprise 2.1

By Robin SchumacherJune 13, 2012

We’re pleased to announce the availability of DataStax Enterprise 2.1. With version 2.1, the DataStax team focused primarily on increased functionality for the Hadoop / analytics side of DataStax Enterprise, with key new features and improvements being:

  • Support for Apache Mahout.
  • Increased capabilities for running a single Hadoop cluster across multiple data centers, with multiple job trackers and Cassandra File System (CFS) keyspaces being available for each data center.
  • Performance improvements that deliver up to 20% faster response times.

These added benefits help maintain DataStax’s leadership position where providing a continuously available Hadoop distribution is concerned. The Hadoop capabilities in DataStax Enterprise go beyond legacy high availability mechanisms such as hot standby’s with manual failover intervention needed, mirroring, etc., and instead deliver a truly location independent (i.e. read/write anywhere) solution that spans many data centers and never goes down.

In addition, DataStax OpsCenter has been updated to provide increased administration and reporting functions that include metadata reports, more data management capabilities, and better large object handling.

Lastly, we’re now supporting the Oracle Linux platform.

You can download DataStax Enterprise 2.1 now, and remember, it’s completely free for development use. For more information on DataStax Enterprise 2.1, please visit our online documentation that’s available in both HTML and PDF form, or download our DataStax Enterprise white paper.
