Available Today: Free Apache Cassandra Virtual Training for Java Developers

By Patrick McFadinNovember 4, 2013

Last week I was at a meetup in Silicon Valley. After my talk I was asked “How can I learn how to develop applications using Cassandra?” Not the first time I have heard that question and thankfully I now have an answer. Starting today you can get the kind of training you need to be a Java Developer with Apache Cassandra. And how much is this going to cost? Nothing. Zero. Free. And because this is open source, that is free as in beer. DataStax has been doing training for a long time but only in a classroom environment. Now our experience with Cassandra will be made available in a virtual, self-paced course. Did I mention it was free?

So how does it work? Register online here. You can sign up for our Java Developer class and start Session 1 right away. We will be delivering new content each week for the 7 session course. Along the way you can reinforce your learning with exercise, homework and quizzes. Don’t worry. There isn’t any grading and you can do them over.

When the class is complete you can take the exam to be a certified Java Developer with Apache Cassandra. Not bad when you consider this is a highly sought after job skill and you just got it all for free. Whether you use this in your current job or want to use it to find a new one, no doubt this is a great career move.

Things aren’t going to just stop here. We are currently developing courses for other languages such as Python and C#. We want to make sure that you get the training to be the best programmer for the best application persistence tier out there and we want your feedback. If you don’t think we are the best, tell us how we should improve. We are all part of the same Cassandra community and together we can make it even better. Don’t be shy.

Enough of my talking. You have a class to take! Good luck and send me a tweet when you are certified @PatrickMcFadin.

Thank you very much for this virtual training. It really helped me to learn basic stuffs.

  2. Thanks for sharing such a great post with regards to java programming training for beginners. It is really a helpful post for the students to improve their knowledge in programming language.

  3. I am concerned about the discontinuing of the Java Cassandra programming training. I am certified but I am now using it to teach my 12 year old boys java. And it is really to good to take down. Please see if you can save it or make it available as a download. The playlist app is simply to good to make unavailable in September as is posted.

Currently I am working the recording path training. Thanks and keep it coming.

Just wondering if there are any videos on Cassandra for offline viewing.
