Advanced Developer Training with Apache Cassandra
We are currently building a high quality, technical, and comprehensive Advanced Developer Training with Apache Cassandra (3-days) course that will teach participants all of the skills necessary to productively use C* to implement real projects. Students who complete this course should be able to return to their jobs and start implementing with Cassandra right away. The programming parts of the course will be done in Java using the DataStax Java Driver for Apache Cassandra.
The course will start with the fundamental concepts of using a highly-scalable, column-oriented database to implement persistence for appropriate use cases. It will cover basic Cassandra architecture, denormalization, data modeling (extensively), programming with the DataStax Java Driver, CQL3, indexing, and discussion of the trade-offs made when implementing any persistence solution.
There will be many focused yet “meaty” hands-on exercises that will both challenge and teach the students. These will include data modeling and CQL3 exercises as well as programming exercises using the DataStax Java Driver to “plug in” Cassandra persistence for specific features of a Spring-based web application. The domain for the web application will be financial services and will include real time-series data such as daily summaries of the S&P stocks.
