Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS), also known as managed database service or simply managed databases, is a cloud-based database service fully hosted and managed by a third-party provider. 

DBaaS includes the software, services, support, and skilled staff necessary to set up, manage, and scale databases. Organizations have the option of going with hosted relational or NoSQL databases.
